House of M #1

House of M #1; cover by Esad Ribic, written by Brian Bendis, art by Olivier Coipel and Tim Townsend

Blasting out of the brains of the Blue Beetle, DC Comics added up another score in the war on threaded reading with their Countdown to Infinite Crisis. This point in the system of company-wide storylines adding on to their previously and concurrently running gamut of soldiers through all sorts of disconnected titles connected by one man, Grant Morrison and the Seven Soldiers.

Over in the realm of Marvel Comics, their big company-wide answer and retaliation on the events to out blast all previous events takes place in House of M. Starting this week, the titles of various Marvel characters will be affected as the ramifications of control let loose from the stables of the X-Men and the Avengers render the landscape to their own devils. At the centre, the family Maximoff. Master of Magnetism and looking like Spanish royalty, Magneto; Scarlet Witch and head bender, Wanda and pretty fast white guy on a track field, Pietro.

With two to one in terms of big story lines in favour of DC, odds are looking good that super heroes will have no time on their hands until the year is out.

And when that hits, who knows what evil lies around the next panel.
