Skull of flames on coat hanger proves spellbinding

Fifteen-year-old Kim Vesco caused quite a stir when she shocked her teacher and classmates at a recent show-and-tell. At her new high school in Salem, Mass., the teenager stunned the room with the display of a family owned and crafted coat hanger, topped with candles on a skull.

Amazingly enough, with the smoke detectors having only been recharged in the Daylight Savings crossover, not a single beep or chirp was heard from overhead. Licking high up toward the ceiling, the flames jumped and danced atop the candles without managing a hint of danger from the fire alarm system.

With the student body divided into witches and non-witches, the classroom showing by the one time Chicago resident has set of a flame of conjecture. Is she a witch with flame-retardant clothes, or merely an illusionist, with a gothic sense of style? With the signal unclear, both factions are eagerly vying for her allegiance and attention. Only time will tell which will win out.
