Counterside Noise

Finding cash down the back of the seat

Staff picks

August 25 is just a couple of days before the 11th annual store sale. Back issues will be at 50% of the sticker price. Toys and action figures will be at 25-50%, sets going from 10%. State of wakefulness going bye bye at 47% and dropping. Or rising.

Still, that only applies to the old comics, and Battle Pope Color #2 isn't old. It's cracking out at new. And the funny. Should read the first before actually walking in and picking up the second. Or, just like forever, pick up the second and read the first when the fourth appears on the shelf.

Smattering the brooks

Staff picks

And on August 18, outside Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #1, there will be nothing else. Nothing. Not since the weekend's reading roundup of roughly three dozen comics fell victim to the navel gazing of blood soaking on winter's edges.

More from Metropolis

The Multiverse

As reported on SuperHeroHype, with a note on CBR not long after, more photos posted from the location shooting of Bryan Singer's Superman Returns.
International Bank of Metropolis
Cold night snapping the air of Martin Place in Sydney. Late night filming makes the want to stay up all the more difficult. Fun is watching on. Fun is not freezing with hands too shaky to hold the camera.

Pope reflections

Staff picks

August 11 will apparently be a pretty light week. Nothing really stands out as a "Throw some money this way!" type of shimmer.

Since waiting forever is a game to play with Kabuki: The Alchemy, Kabuki: Reflections #5 is a nice and loaded taste of the Mack. "A collection of previously unpublished stories, pages and artwork. Plus: a peek inside Mack’s sketchbook, step-by-step commentary by David about his painted artwork and loads of art you’ve never seen before." Nice.

Battle Pope Color #1 is a re-order for those who missed out the first time. A customer was in the store about a fortnight ago raving about it and wanting to know when the second was going to hit. So that's a recommendation from outside the store's walls.

What is Necromancer #1?
