July 9 sees a couple of first issues hit alongside Spidey and the crew from Planet Express.
Flak Riot #1 starts the four issue mini with a solicit that reads: "...the story of one Zoe Nixxon, a cute, bored, lonely file clerk who longs for a new line only to find her true calling: hunting for bounties in the lawless dimension known as the O.D." But it was the cover that made this one jump into the stack.
From the guys that had that non-Sigil stained kids' fantasy title out from CrossGen before the implosion,
Stardust Kid #1. Given the wonderful work that DeMatteis and Ploog were delivering on
Abadazad, here's hoping the flavour country continues.
Strange Girl #1 seems like it could be interesting enough to pick up. Whether or not it will continue is another matter.
Futurama Comics #20 is back again outside of that three-parter that ran not too long ago. Unless of course a season is considered a long drop between issues. The only source of new
Futurama to be had is pretty decent.
And for the sake of it,
Ultimate Spider-Man #78.

With Memorial Day in the States, there's no telling if the comics for this week will actually ship on time. They might make it in on Thursday, 2 June, but chances are slim. In any case,
shipping list has been updated, so that means an eye shall be cast.
As a Marvel Zombie under the strains of a tight wallet,
House Of M #1 is both enticing and revolting. Who knows how deep the ties to other comics will actually go. Picking this up should reveal the answer. Or not. Or just blow out a few more dollars for the cause of an company-wide crossover. The likes of which have been seen a few times and a few years before. Tentative.
Two titles both from Slave Labor Graphics,
Bear and
Emo Boy #1 are as usual, devoid of colour. But what they lack in hues, they almost certainly make up for in interesting, offbeat stories. Though, that one about the Bag of Anteaters wasn't all that satisfying. Hopeful.
Elvira #145 might even ship this week. It didn't last week. And there was only one copy ordered. So let's see what happens in this rather weird shipping week.
Should there be any change left over from buying a train ticket,
Smoke #1 could jump the barrier of those damn IDW title prices.

May 26 sees the first title of the DC line to carry their new hockey league logo/emblem. Underneath what will be a huge splash for the new do, a comic should be seen underneath
DC Special: The Return Of Donna Troy #1. Won't be getting that.
Amazing Spider-Man #520 teeters on the edge as it's very reason for being a standing order comic remains sketchy at the best of times. Probably should read up to the last issue before dropping it.
From
the guys that brought
Ultra comes
Girls #1. "Ethan Daniels is a typical bachelor who suffers from one, infallible truth: dealing with the opposite sex can be complicated. One night, he bumps into a mysterious woman who will change his life... and maybe even the world." Questionably picked.
Don't bother looking for
Elvira #145 on the shelves. It's a short ordered item. Think one copy. Just the one. That's showing something for ya, nothing. One of those deals straight for the determined fan. Pretty fun book actually.
Common Foe #1 should have some army dudes killing other dudes under a hail of bullets from the trenches. Good timely stuff seeing as the Australian Defence Forces are looking to pack up and go mercenary.
When scores of zombies isn't enough, latch onto the dead skin of
Hunger #1. Zombies. Feeding the brain eaters.

People with better things to do than go around clicking all over the place on sites that don't feature bare skin might not have noticed some new pages up. From what used to be under the banner of the store logo -- some concerns have been raised and Wolvie will be taken out -- is a reference to a beta version
of the site map. One for the site, not one
for the store.
A site map for the store might have merit if not for the fact that it's not the kind of place to get lost in. Unless, of course, navigation is a seriously problem like a hand ever glued to a bottle of Jack Daniels. Or whatever bourbon or whiskey of choice happens to drown the sorrows.
So now there's something of a running gallery on the
action figures and another page on the Simpsons. Like as if walking into the store doesn't shout out as a
Simpsons haven. Glorious? U Decide!
There was some slight trouble in figuring and remembering the names of a few
head knockers and bobble heads. But that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
What could be is trying to discern some overall meaning and structure to the captions and comments on the photos. Don't. It's a lost cause. Seriously, it is.

Here's hoping that come May 19, at least a full day of sun breaks through the boxes of weather updates on the
Firefox toolbar. This only really matters for those carrying a haul from the Shop and who choose to brave it carrying it under their shirt.
Thankfully,
Ex Machina #11 is the only one comic that's worth bothering the trip outside the fenced area. Cheap seats, cheap week. Hail in the sunshine!
Maxx Book One TP looks like some esoteric mind warping fun should there be any money left from watching too many people smoke dope. In the name of art. Related?
Sure,
Hunter-Killer Scriptbook #1 might be racheting up past the IDW prices, but from the solicit it should be a good read into what makes a comic book script. Hell, if that doesn't work, use it as a base for what could go into a script for a radio play. Not like they both don't deliver on words.

May 12 is another one of those Thursdays that will see some writing work push the limits of sanity. Real tests of mettle will bear a carcass of a skull on the Friday morning that follows it. Be sure of something, be sure of that...
Captain America And The Falcon #14 closes out another series penned by the
almighty Priest. Since this is part two of a two-part story, there isn't any point in picking this one up outside of tasting what has been a fantastic ride with Captain America, the Falcon and the Anti-Cap. Enjoy it while the wait beckons for the next title to be given no fanfare.
Harry Osborn must be the Hobgoblin by now in
Ultimate Spider-Man #77. Last issue read was #74, and things seriously looked like they were going that way. Petulant punk.
Astonishing X-Men #10 must have also dealt with the Danger Room problem by now. That thing was starting to get ahead of itself by #8. Jumping back into the pile soon.
If past experiences in reading has shown anything,
Freedom Force #4 will be as crazy as the three that preceded it. Real crazy. Like, WTF kind.
But the pick for this week that isn't already being taken down features the Man with the Chin, Bruce Campbell in
Man With The Screaming Brain #1. If the title isn't an indication of what it could be, then it is a fine and deceptive title isn't it?
