Happy days! I've been in contact with comic artist extraordinare, Todd Nauck and in between his ridiculously busy schedule he has managed to answer 10 questions for lil ol' me!
Todd is a veteran of the comic arts with credits including Teen Titans, Young Justice, Teen Titans Go, Supergirl and most recently Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man with superstar writer Peter David.
1. What was your favourite childhood comic book?
Probably Secret Wars. That was the series I started collecting comic books with. It established my love for comics featuring lots of superheroes.
2. What is your favourite current book?
Invincible by Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley. It’s the most fun book to read. If you’re not reading it, check it out!
3. How did you get your start in comics?
A friend from art school showed my homemade WildGuard mini comics to Dan Fraga from Extreme Studios at a comic book convention. He took them and showed them to his boss, Rob Liefeld. I got a call 2 days later to come work for Extreme. Then I moved on to work for DC and Marvel Comics.
4. Who is your favourite character to draw?
Probably my WildGuard characters. There’s just something about drawing your own creations!
5. If you could be one superhero (or heroine) for a day, who would you be?
I’d say Green Lantern. I’d love to give a power ring a try.
6. Who is your favourite writer to work with and why?
I don’t have one favorite writer. But I do like working off of Peter David’s stories. J Torres has been fun to work with as well.
7. What will you be doing once you finish your run on Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man?
Right now, I’ll be finishing up my Teen Titans Go run. I also plan on doing more
WildGuard.
8. If you weren't a professional artist, what would you be doing?
Trying to get work as a professional artist! Or a game show host.
9. What advice do you have for aspiring artists?
Practice! Draw as much as possible. Work on the storytelling aspect, backgrounds, and layout as well as drawing cool shots of the characters. Don’t be afraid to show your work to editors. Learn from their critiques.
And most importantly, have fun!!!
and finally...
10. Autobots or Decepticons?
Autobots all the way!
Ya hear that? "Autobots all the way!" I knew I liked this guy!!!
Thanks again to Todd for taking time to answer my questions in between his deadline crunch.

Earlier today I was lucky enough to be able to ask one of my personal favourite comedians a few questions.
Patton Oswalt has been headlining in comedy clubs from New York to LA since 1996. Since then he has filmed numerous specials for Comedy Central and HBO including Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner, credited in
Blade Trinity, Man on the Moon and
Run Ronnie Run (One of the funniest movies of all time).
He has recurring roles on
Late Night with Conan O'Brien and
The King of Queens and has done voice over work for
Static Shock, Batman Beyond and
Aqua Teen Hunger Force as well as
Mike Mignola's The Amazing Screw-On Head.
Luckily for me Patton is a comic book fan and was nice enough to answer my 10 questions.
1. What title got you into comic books?
SPIDER-MAN as a kid; DARK KNIGHT as a teenager and beyond.
2. What is your current favourite title?
Tie: Meltzer's JLA and Ellis' FELL.
3. Who is your favourite artist?
Guy Davis.
4. Who is your favourite writer?
Brian K. Vaughn
5. DC, Marvel or other?
Anything that's good -- publishers mean nothing, ultimately.
6. What comic book would you like to see turned in a film?
SANDMAN MYSTERY THEATER
7. How did you get your start in comedy?
See my
MySpace page
8. If you weren't a comedian what would you be doing?
Managing a Blockbuster somewhere in Northern Virginia, being hated by my employees
9. What tips do you have for budding comedians?
Go onstage. A lot.
10. Autobots or Decepticons?
They’re both lame.
A massive thanks goes to Patton for taking the time to answer my questions. I recommend anyone reading to check out Patton's
MySpace page or
website. One of the Comedians of Comedy and a damn nice guy!

Word floats around that a collection worth gathering is a collection worth displaying. And true, to some extent. Or at least to the extent at which space will allow. And then there's the collection not entirely worth displaying. The display that crinkles up a question mark hovering over the vat of cool molten lava.
On the photo above are two stacks of comics. The higher one is the one of the comics that have been read. And the one on the far right is the one that everybody dreads when thinking about their collection. The part of the collection which rues the day and occupies the mind.
The stack on the far right is the stack of comics that are waiting to be read. On such example being a run of
Jack of Fables from #1-5. It's as bad as it feels.

Polling day for the state of New South Wales is rocking up closer and closer this weekend. Labour and Liberals locking horns over the state of business affairs and outlining who is the bigger offender in running things dead into the ground.
On the one hand, Peter Debnam for the Liberals and a man who can't seem to keep a business afloat. Even to the point of denying his connection and business dealings with said markers on his CV.
And on the other, Morris Iemma for Labour. A man with a high forehead and ministers who haven't been all that great in their track records for running of services and infrastructure.
Two party preferred system means that either one of these will have to rule the state with their combined numbers. Placing a vote for the Greens and Democrats apparently, as some people will joke, a throwaway gesture.
Personally, it's going down with the Greens and Democrats ahead of Labour with the right-wing parties wallowing with Liberal. To that end, an idea for a little political grandstanding in the polling areas for Saturday.
Take the ballots, vote for whichever party tickles the fancy and sounds like a winner. Fold up the ballot as instructed.
On the walk from the voting booth, stand in the middle with a look of despair and a voice of shock. Proclaim something along the lines of "Oh my stars and garters! I've made a huge mistake! I just voted [political party of opposing choice]!"
Then place the ballot in the box and walk away.
2007-03-24 @ 23:11
There were 338 boxes to fill below the black line on the ballot for the members of the legislative council. And when done fast and with preferences in mind, takes about 15 minutes or so.

Nurples, sadly, being of an undefined variety of being/state/object outside the closing rhyming half of the nipple twisters. If that's what other people know them as. Very subjective, all about growing up in certain parts of the school in the world, trying to name all manner of playground and office room torture.
Now, one thing that remains as unclear as the seed on talking about nipple cripples is that of Grimace. The purple blob that hangs about Ronald McDonald in his adventures in spreading his clown love of flat tasting burgers around the world.
Not unlike a mini entourage all by himself, he supposedly represents himself as Ronald's friend and best mate. Getting into the burger parties using the clown's name and generally living the high life as a hanger on. Seriously, it's what most of the friends of high profile celebrities find their lives falling into.
Which says nothing of what kind of creature he really is. A milkshake, a taste bud, a result of too many Quarter Pounders through the system. Nothing is clear.
Brazilians call the glob "Shaky" in their part of the world. Two things that come to mind are that he is possibly milkshake incarnate. Or that he just couldn't stay away from the vices and is now scratching himself like the Tyrone Biggums.
Sure seems happy though.
The Fry Kids are fries, Ronald is a clown, Big Mac is a piece of cardboard and the hamburglar is a lecherous coot. But what, pray tell, is Grimace supposed to be, if anything?

Oh, for what leaves the eyes in such a state as to feel the green radioactive ooze pooling out from the sockets?
Certainly not keeping regular daylight hours helps a lot. A whole barrel load of good apparently comes from working in the same time zone as the people what stand in the same room. And when one time zone steps out of another and runs for weeks and months, there's the possibility that the red will make green.
Outside possibility with a boon of drinking heavy of green drink (as others drink purple and grape).
