Clearly things are amiss in the world of shot deadlines and comic books lying face down in a damp area of the kitchen table tops. Where the hope of not having to read the next issue comes from not even seeing it appear on the shelf to tempt the wallets before sitting read with the rest of them.
And so it is, a most strange occurrence as All Star Batman And Robin The Boy Wonder #5 from DC Comics and Ultimates 2 #13 from Marvel finally hit the shelves.
Months? Or years? Since the last issue between the latest and the previous, who knows any more of the story inside and how fractured the leap between. One thing they have going for them is at least the collection factor. Not a fan personally, but it is interesting to watch them continue to pick up.
Ludicrous fold out in the Ultimates is beyond comprehension and still does not quite explain the need for such a long delay between issues. Kind of forgot about these two titles even running with their no show. Next season, maybe a sighting of a new Battle Chasers issue.
And all that build up leaves a bad taste in the mouth after licking the back of the cane toads what make their hitch trips down from Queensland.
Dropping on a stone last week, a box full of 3D lenticular promotional cards. Lenticular! Oh what long wait since the late 90s for a lenticular something or anything in a comic shop.
And the soundtrack to the first Spider-Man film doesn't count, even if it angle-tastic.
From Roadshow Films in flogging the new Hilary Swank movie, The Reaping:
A former Christian missionary (Hilary Swank) who lost her faith after her family was tragically killed, has since become a world-renowned expert in disproving religious phenomena. But when she investigates a small Louisiana town that is suffering from what appear to be the Biblical plagues, she realizes that science cannot explain what is happening and she must regain her faith to combat the dark forces threatening the community.
Not a lot going on when it's a slide into time to count and stack the many, many, many(!) cards in the box. One ten makes a pile and then a few more. Until those piles stack themselves so high that the Gods of Egypt will snap a cracking whip into the plebs to build upon itself, a pyramid.
All up, like the take down of the below the line of the big white sheet thing at the recent state elections, 793 cards all up. Good thing to flip over too. They work well as postcards to strangers and friends. All that ample white space and it's of a sturdy card stock to boot.
Drop in, pick one up. Or more. It's not like other people don't want to have strange things sent to them in the mail you know.
Timely too given the encroaching footsteps of summer. Who knows how long it's really possible to breathe through the ears in order to keep the heated air at the front of the face relatively cool.
Thanks again to the contacts at the British Frieght Company and Roadshow Films for the masks in the first place.
From time to time people are interested in seeing what the Comic Shop has in its coffers.
Do you have a catalogue? We are interested in your Bobble Heads.....mainly the horror figures.
Trying to knock out and keep up-to-date a catalogue? Not happening. At least not right now.
What is though, is a fairly often updated showing of the galleries of head knockers, statues and busts on display on the main site. The pages are usually scanned on the start of the week, so if in curious wonder about what's there, hit them up like a batsman on the rocks.
For those without a connection to the pay cable that delivers the pricey version of repeats and schlock to the TV...
Commercial filmed on the first day of the big reopening/moving sale back in August. Sadly, hanging shot of the store isn't one taken in the heat of the people but of an after hours set up.
Spot the spelling mistake a true fanboy would never let slip through.
Their field reporter Elle Lascelles interviewed Jason about storage for comics and comics care. "Her report includes an interesting new commercial technique from the U.S.A. helping comics stay mint for up to 50 years."
Late in the evening, Doctor Who fans would have probably been watching Tooth and Claw on at about the same time.
Now wasn't that some time travelling segue?
Question really is, did anyone happen to catch it or the repeat on the Sunday?
Nipples need stringing up? Nipples strong enough to hook anchor for ropes and vines in the first place? Well, in this issue of Tarot, that's just what's happening on pretty much every page. Throw in all manner of quick fire euphemisms for pleasuring the vagina and it's a comic that knows how to play it up. Not entirely much on a solid and endearing plot, but that's not what this comic is there for. It's fun, rather light on logic and moves at a quick pace.
