Freezing time now, with the swelling of the fingers into massive clumps like the obese what nub along the side dishes into funnels from the troughs. Such as it is, the feeding of the face in times of icy cold weather. Breathe inside the house, those that can see their own heat hit the cold, well, house heating may very well be an optional extra next to thermal underwear.

Take forever for a resurrection when not playing in the big two companies of franchises. Well, looks like that any way when big title changes are concerned. Nevertheless, here comes a return of Tales From The Crypt #1. Horror at it's most. And a well wishing that the kind of stories what kind the nads of the comics back in times before the Comics Code Authority hold the same kind of bit a hungry cow does for clumps of grass.

Recently an issue in this series, must have been something back about #12, didn't really jive, nor was there any real beats of jazz. Wonder then what the tune is on Ex Machina #29 by the time it gets around to that. Probably over in Kentucky by the land of this very issue.

Bendis remains, but Bagley takes a walk with Ultimate Spider-Man #110 being his final solo issue of the long running series. Stuart Immonen is taking over on the next issue with half, but let's read out the final whole Bagley issue for a nice chunk of a Marvel series. Right now on #99 actually, looks like a corker.

And cannot just pass up on Tick 20th Anniversary Special Edition #1. Jam issue, throws in all sorts of creators to slam their take on the big blue boy with antennas out his forehead. Looks promising, looks like one ride of laughs and neck popping veins.

Wasting away behind a mask of fables

Staff picks

Bang a gong, and it's February already, shortest month of the year, cruftiest of them all. Best month actually, when you come to think of it. On the cusp of the seasonal calendar that breaks in from summer into autumn. Doesn't stop the sweating though. And you'd think it was only the obese to crank out the drip glands heavy. Woah.

Haven't been reading big on the whole Choosing Sides thing at Marvel, but when Peter Porker's about, look out. Ultimate Civil War Spider-Ham Crisis #1 clearly states one side to choose. Pork. Or ham. Or bacon. Pigs ears a rather natty though.

Ah, the series that is a gift unto itself, Kabuki #8 is expected in this week. It's the comic that keeps on giving, but certainly makes sure you wait for it. And what a wait. Like amnesia kicks in the side of the donkey with a mule to boot. Classy, but certainly familiar.

Much like the state of affairs in Ex Machina #26. Other people might not have this problem, but any series that hits the stride into the 20s, and the brain can't recognise it being a different number. Same case with Futurama. Ever eternal on the same number despite the contents within and the cover itself changing on the listing.

Two more additions, Jack of Fables #7 and Wasteland #6 are possible goers. The former sits ready to be read with the first five issues holding up with staples far from curling. The latter was a great read on the first issue and the two after that are also in the holding bay. Looking over the pile of "yet to read" it's unlikely, no matter how good these two are, that they'll join too quick.

A little time perhaps.

Wasting away in black and white

Staff picks

Much to do, so little frying time to do it. It's a walkabout issue with August 14 presenting a couple of hits into the pocket, a nifty thing now with the cheaper prices in effect.

Freezing the body core on reading a couple of comics in the morning, Ex Machina #23 and Casanova #4 are looking hot to warm the spine. Tight and super fine, their respective showings issues earlier today making them easy choices to pick up. The latter being pretty much the only one comic to rise in price. Give it as it takes.

The ten page preview of Sam Noir Samurai Detective #1 at Newsarama is a bit of a hard read. Opera makes light work of it though. And the preview isn't making it an easy sell, the style at this stage isn't enough to warrant picking it up.

Could be in like Wasteland #3. Where having already picked up the first two in this three part story makes walking away that less of a reason in sanity. On pause after this.

Smoke smoke and a little bit of Flash

Staff picks

Bit of a little rumble in the stomach of the shipping of late. Looks like the next load is set for August 5. A Saturday for those keeping up to date with the calendar. Making it one of us.

As rank as this whole Spider-Man revealing his secret identity goes, the ramifications are still pretty far ahead to otherwise disturb the reading. In any event, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #11 sees appearances from Flash Thompson and Mysterio. Flash was last in a vegetative state on the read pile. That's how long it's been since picking up the reading on the regular flavour Spidey mythos. That is if the veg is walking and talking about of his own volition.

There's a pot smoker some how connected in the events of Ex Machina #22. Part two of a four part story. Trying to roll a comic into a joint or other spliff like shape is a bit of a hard task. Forget trying it on something slabbed by the CGC.

Finding a crack between the sheets

Staff picks

Time is tight and the release of Superman Returns in just two weeks leaves the choice of films scarce for a June end deadline. Stick It or Cars? Flip a coin and watch the other one. Like all the major decisions are made.

Ex Machina #21 comes out this week. And it feel a little like Ultimate Spider-Man. What with the other week being a release week of another Mayor Hundred comic. Of course, splitting hairs about the two-part mini and the regular is too far a concern for all.

Finally, after what is probably reading another preview release on the Matt Fraction mailing list, Casanova #1 hits. There's the promise of a tight action packed story in the one issue with no requirement of having to pick up five other parts for the tale. Likes that a lots.

Runny noses still don't win marathon races

Staff picks

Finally, someone rips off the month of May from the calendar to reveal June. That's pretty late. Any hoo, June 15, and a movie about gymnastics, Stick It, with that girl from Our Generation/American Dreams. Looks like a nice smack in the groin from the bar.

Double the goodies in Archie And Friends #101. So we have the Veronicas pick up the other half of their two-parter appearance from the previous issue. Add to that, Katy Keene. Whoever she is. Well, when you start picking up a comic on a gimmick...

Another half of a two-parter is Ex Machina Special #2. Nice for those who already have the first issue of this special. That wouldn't be many though.

Much like collecting the last few issues of Cerebus and Bone, Spider-Girl #99 is only one more issue away from the end of it all. After that, it'll be something like Strangers In Paradise. That too is drawing the curtains.

And the thing about the nose relates to nothing inbetween.

Shovelling all kinds of gravel

Staff picks

For all intents and purposes May 11 seems like a nice catch up for some. Recent in their minds, like a month ago is still fresh in their application banks. Out of nowhere and they make mention of something akin to just off the other day. Well, it could be, but it isn't. Not when there's a whole month in between. And with no contact to boot.

After Spider-Girl #98 it'll be two issues left before the very probable end. Never collected it religiously during the start. Wasn't too crazy about the taste during the bulk of the run. Got a little into it a year ago but now looking to join in on the ride out with the waves. Strange that. Like collecting Cerebus and Bone at the end.

Oh, and Ex Machina #20. For the sake of reading something solid and relatively heavy compared to Mayday Parker's adventures. Relatively. Just like a month being recent for some.

Making loud noises at lunch time

Staff picks

Easter long weekend looking into a close one with the Anzac period, but April 20 looks good for new comics in the store.

Still some issues away from the rest of Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in the arc, but the Spider-Man The Other hardcover comes out this week. Too bad there's no intention of picking it up when reading every other, other comic in a crossover storyline is looking good so far. Though that is at two issues of twelve.

Ex Machina Special #1 is a good side runner to the main series. Expected for just forty regulars, anything on the edge is just going to have to be. Not enough room for it in the normal run it seems.

And there's still that back log from a few weeks running to pick up.

Mind wipes all around

Staff picks

March 2, the on set of the One Year Later titles from DC. Luckily the only affected titles appear to be that of the DCU. Imprints and else are otherwise fine and unaffected.

Now, despite have no recollection whatsoever of the previous comics on the stack, Ex Machina #18 should be a good hit. Lines are super fine and articulate, expressive of the nuances in the script and all that blahooey. Expected to be another good read sight unseen.
