Cowboys and spiders and lots of smashing glass

Staff picks

Last week saw those pirates from them Caribbean seas return for some hi jinks in the high waters. Next week will be Uma Thurman and Luke Wilson in a tepid film about a super woman. This week, for July 13, nothing much. Anything? Can't recall.

Any way, it's the end of a line with Spider-Girl #100. From the humble jump start of that What If...? issue and so many comics and years later, it's time to say good bye. And at whopping 104, it's going to be a bang. All good solid and shot single stories for the entire run. None of this lolly-gagging with nothing inbetween business.

Can't say the same for Ultimate Spider-Man #97. Which, if previous issues are any indication, will be only a fraction of a story to tide over until the "record breaking" land mark issue later this year. Like as if it really counts if the guts aren't quite like the fish smells.

Of course, the fine line is crossed and pistol whipped in Shaolin Cowboy #6. It's crazy, it's hyper detailed, it holds its own. It loses a lot of water. It keeps on with the nutsoids and the pages smell really good.

Green beans and dusty rust

Staff picks

With the shipping now hopefully back on a regular schedule, the next load will drop on Thursday 20 October. There's something going on down at Redfern, about screaming poets and dancers in a dark storm. Who knows what it'll turn out to be though.

Figuring the first run was good enough to cancel for reasons of low sales and no notice, She-Hulk 2 #1 should be right up the alley. Fun and snappy the first volume was, can there be any reason for the second not to be?

Word is that Spider-Man Family #1 features an appearance by Peter Porker, Spectacular Spider-Ham. Reprint? Rehash? Who cares really. That little tyke really needs some more air time. More!

Ultimate Spider-Man #84 may very well be collecting another up until Parker's birthday in #100. Getting rather lost not knowing what happens from issue to issue. Short term memory loss or something?

Want something out there, sharp of wit and weird? Shaolin Cowboy #4 be the pick.

Where you been cowboy?

Staff picks

June 24. That's a Friday. Remember that.

Then forget about it if Saturday is the regular day of haulage. Could be. Who knows.

Like who would have a stack of at least 30 comics still waiting to be read and adding on two more.

One being Shaolin Cowboy #3, a continuation of a rather hyper detailed tale about a Shaolin Cowboy, a talking ass and angry crabs. Thems be a good mix of crazy.

And then Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere #1 debuts in sequential art. Neil will be in Sydney to do some signing too.
