Hardest thing about washing the eyeballs in an acid bath is to remember to make sure that the little dish with the acid is clean itself. Nothing like getting dirt in while washing it out to really send out a sense of huffingness. And no, not quite a word really. Not quite a word at all really. More a feeling of the exhalation of air in quite defeat.

Interesting gets a ramp up and there is this thing called a sprawling connectivity and here in drives the other end of a series now kicking off with Doktor Sleepless #1. Ellis at it again and thar be reading to be done.

Course, there's the other end of the feeling masses with Futurama Comics #32. There's a port-a-potty involved. No mention of toilet paper though. Like that other time...

Ah, like that.

From sea to shining Earthsea Tales

Shop talk

Closing out another promotion and a look see on the results and entries making a play for the booty. In this case, a copy of a Studio Ghibli DVD from the crew at Dendy Cinemas. Reason being that of the exclusive limited season of Tales from Earthsea from, yes, Studio Ghibli.

Ten days for one reel to play at the Dendy Newtown in Newtown's Dendy Cinemas and on to the next state. So, on to the scoreboard of entries and the art coloured in the lines.

Who sings the theme song to Tales from Earthsea?

Aoi Teshima.

On the surface isn't all that simple. Unless a quick check of the Wikipedia entry is made. Not much for the IMDB listing. Clearly nothing from the film's official site.

Well, it is a crap shoot when playing with Wiki as a source. In this case, it plays well enough to the tune.

Name another Studio Ghibli film not already mentioned on this page:

Any of the following made an entry a valid entry: Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Grave of the Fireflies, Kiki's Delivery Service, Only Yesterday, Porco Rosso, The Ocean Waves, Pom Poko, Whisper of the Heart, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbors the Yamadas, The Cat Returns or Spirited Away.

Most entries fell safe and late with the use of Spirited Away as the chosen marker. Obviously, when sorting through, and with the options to consider, any entry which opts to drop with any other title floats a bit higher in the pool.

When picking from a list, take a look at other movies, in case they don't seem so dragged down by being so recent or popular as to not make the brain think.

Which Studio Ghibli DVD would you like to win?

Any would do: No preference; Howl's Moving Castle; My Neighbour Totoro; or Nausica of the Valley of the Wind.

This round works on two shots; the personal choice and the blind shot. For those who are really interested in picking up a DVD of their choice, they would go for the one they're looking to nab. Others, for the sake of winning, will just throw down "No preference" and hope for the best. When there are entries for all the other titles however, those with a shot at "Whatever" will lose out.

Most of the time.

Those that will always lose out are those who cannot decide and go for more than one. And that's the worst thing to do. There exists a blacklist for those who choose to rort. It's there for a reason. Stay away from it and have palms clear of red paint.

Quick deaths dead done long ago

The Multiverse

Months on and the Marvel Database Project (MDP) still continues pumping along like a Juggernaut into She-Hulk. Other contenders along the way have had their take at the title, but none can outlast the sheer behemoth that the MDP has become.

So damn large and heavy that at times the load is too great and a wait on the other end can seem like a go at the toilets.

And of course, like the recent revamp of IDW, Marvel are back in the game. This time, they've brought their Marvel Universe along with them.

And the duking of wiki projects is on.

Shooting through the breeze, spitting in the wind

The Multiverse

In the absence of what was going to be something constructed toward a single point, general fluff sees this:

Wes Molebash and the Viper Comics people are running a You'll Have That contest for some punter to have their mug and traits feature in the webcomic.

Hayase have apparently gone "live" with their Aussie Comics wiki. Still a little bare, content comes in trickles.

Far better as it stands compared to the The Comics Wiki. All accounts show that not even the person fronting the hosting is watching. Might be a good chance to go nuts and add all sorts of stubs. At least that way they'll have some movement toward content.

Speaking of playing around, toys, toys and more toys.

Wiki wah?

The Multiverse

Apparently, the wiki known otherwise as the Marvel Database Project has senior staff. And here without catching up regularly on the Marvel exploits. Should be interesting to see how long this position holds up with the changes in net speed.

Wiki wiki wah

The Multiverse

In one corner, the Marvel Database Project. Featuring, naturally enough, all things Marvel. Or at least that's the wiki's intentions.

And in the other, The Comics Wiki. A more expansive take on the world of comics. Though the posting of its notice was on a Vertigo board.

Which flavour of the Wikipedia will win out? Will TCW have a hole where the Marvel submissions would be? Would the MDBP have an anorexic fit as the users move over to the other side?

Will either really know the other without a handshake?

Do you even care? Who knows!

(Currently as it stands, the MDBP has more users. How many of those are active is uncertain. Yet.)
