Bustin' summer sounds with Soundwave

Season of the year again and the music festivals are all about with concerts and gigs and whatnot rocking out and bleeding those ear drums. Homebake, Peats Ridge Festival, and upcoming not that far away, the Big Day Out.

Six inches in the mosh pit with Art Asylum fingers all over it like a sweat drenched singlet. Laserbeak on the shoulder to pick up some of them bootlegs that tapes are well known for back in the day. Back when bootlegging was all about sticking a Bic pen into the wheels of the cassettes.

Soundwave of the Decepticons and a bust full of pressure to stand well along the album shelves. Ultimate boom box friend (who carries that around anymore) in a world of iPods and defunct Zunes.

Given his status as a team player in the villainous side ofTransformers, his favourite music style may very well be a mix of metal and old timey sounding songs. Maybe a smattering of Cannibal Corpse, Queen and Iron Butterfly? Certainly nothing with The Pipettes save for the quieter times away from the battlefield.

What's playing on your mix tape this summer?

Blowing out the pressure to a colossal end

Need some time off of that emotion of strain and bearing the pain of fighting the last result? Breaking through without the aid of fibre is one thing. Ripping a new hole on the wall, completely another. And it's not the easiest of patches to stitch up, if rumours from the emergency room are true.

When the blockage round the back gets a little more solid than usual, it's not the greatest of ideas to sing it like a Salt N Pepa hit. (Ah, push it!) Get up on this and watch for the dropping lungs.

Seen here in glorious 3D, Colossus from the cover of Marvel Comics' Uncanny X-Men #122. Where Mr Rasputin is having issues of self-doubt and to top it all off, having some trouble in the Danger Room.

Don't let your back room become your danger room. Everything has its time, and undue sudden pressure is liable to bring even the biggest down.

But if it is just all gas, think about bringing a lighter to the party.

Believe it, bub, it's the end of the year now

Scream, shout, it doesn't really matter how it all comes out. Two weeks to blow and then it's all a gone and go.

Don't hold that breath any longer than a minute. It's just over two weeks away from the very end of 2006 and not breathing for that long turns you more blue than Violet Beauregard will ever do.

Crowds, people and the busy fuss of late and later minute Christmas shopping is enough to drive many insane and out of mind.

Keep that cool, it'll come in handy when the power grids overload from all the energy drains and the sweat starts a trickling like rivulets down a stormy window pane.

And every now and then, remember to relax, it's just another week really. Save for the numbers.

Daredevil locked out of church, no spare keys

The Man Without Fear, Daredevil (revealed to be lawyer Matt Murdock in a tabloid), joined millions of other pilgrims in the Vatican City when he arrived just in time to be too late to pay his respects to the late Pope John Paul II.

With no spare keys, or even an original set to provide access, Daredevil was left hanging out on a church spire. Eyeing the entrance for a possible opening, he is yet likely to make an entrance into the proceedings which have now entered the phase in which a new Pontiff will be elected by the Church.

Finding and contacting a Cardinal proved to be just as hard as breaking the barriers of human masses swarming the square during the days of mourning. Locking themselves in the conclave, the College of Cardinals have barred all communication with the outside world. This includes denying late attendees any chance to talk with them about Pope John Paul II's successor outside of the puffs of smoke.

It's not known quite how long the interregnum, or The Vacancy of the Holy See, will actually last for.

Pope John Paul II's crypt in Saint Peter's Basilica is expected to reopen to the public on Wednesday.

Venom flares at calls of being a poser

Deep lunging at old and long-time Spider-Man fans, the alien symbiote Venom, has snapped back at claims his rumoured appearance in the next Spider-Man film is pandering to newer and more violence hungry fans. With director Sam Raimi still close-lipped about which of the rogues gallery will face down in the third installment of the film franchise, Venom's inclusion is anything but a lock.

Tearing up the street and leaving a smoking fog of dust, the one-time confidant of ex-Daily Bugle photographer Eddie Brock, was all in a rage. Venom's rage against the bitumen spurred by comments from a hardened fanboy denouncing the alien as nothing more than a brawn bag. "He's a joke compared to the others that have gone against Spidey in both mind and might," said the unnamed comic book fan.

Art Asylum's Eli Livingston and Ken Usanami were on hand to try and calm down Venom but were only relegated to touching up the scene of destruction in as they were taking notes in a Marvel milestone reconstruction.

Others lining up to show down against Spider-Man include The Lizard, using the technology left behind by Doctor Octopus; the Hobgoblin, using the weaponry of the Green Goblin and throwing away the character's comicbook continuity, or even a return of the green with a Green Goblin II.
