Superman And Batman Vs. Aliens And Predators #1 (Of 2); Written by Mark Schultz, art and cover by Ariel Olivetti
Watch back on
The Matrix Reloaded, the one with The Architect/Colonel Sanders in the reality room and with that battle between Neo on hundreds of Agent Smiths.
As Neo and the others of the resistance are going guns against the machines down in the belly of the real world, does it feel like in parts not unlike watching Superman battle hordes of Aliens?
It's the battle you've been waiting for in a thrilling 2-issue miniseries by Mark Schultz (Cadillacs and Dinosaurs) with computer-generated painted art by Ariel Olivetti (SPACE GHOST)!
They're back! The relentless killing machines known as Aliens and the unstoppable race of hunters called Predators have returned to Earth. But saying "they're back" isn't quite accurate - Batman discovers that the two races, sealed away from the human population, have been here all along!
Can he and Superman get them off our world before they threaten the planet's existence?
Superman And Batman Vs. Aliens And Predators #1 (Of 2) from DC Comics
Suit up in a block of heavy metal and jump out of a plane, surely another way toward
Iron Man: Hypervelocity. New Iron Man armour is put to the test and really, when a bloke like that makes so many iterations of his battle suit, something bad's bound to bounce back. Adam Warren and Brian Denham are bolting this sixer up.
Marvel also present
Squadron Supreme: Hyperion vs Nighthawk in the ring with Mark Guggenheim and Paul Gulacy. Quarter cut smack down between, well, the title just says it right there.
Aspen MLT said it themselves that
Soulfire: Chaos Reign Beginnings won't be out there on shelves. And yet, here it appears on the shipping list. Poodle hat.
Short fills across the American comic reading world affected the release of
Civil War #6 among other comics. Rest of the numbers are in this week. That annoying card for a music download site still comes attached. Can't help it. Have cutting implements for those who want to rid themselves of it though.
Notice a swag of re-orders this week in the DC section with a starter on
Superman #654? From Kurt Busiek, Carlos Pacheco and Jesus Merino, it's the start of their run on the Man of Steel. Clark is trying to gum up the side stories and prove himself worthy of being an ace reporter for The Daily Planet. Is it an "again" moment?
There's Frew Publications for those who like their purple in black and white. For those who like their purple in colour,
Phantom from Moonstone sates that desire. Pick up a copy and smell the pages. Now that's good sniffing. But don't nose it too close.
J.K. Vaughn, Mark L. Haynes and Jean Diaz run the mix in six but right now the third is out. So step it back some with IDW Publishing as they jump behind the tick-tick-ticking of that clock in
24: Nightfall #1 on re-order.
Warren Ellis and Mike Deodato prove that justice, like lightening, isn't always about redemption as
Thunderbolts #110 heralds a new sort of team that really isn't a team.

The Spirit #1; written by Darwyn Cooke, art by Cooke and J. Bone, cover by Cooke
Dapper wear with a nice fedora to cap off a well-worn outfit. Deck it out with a subtle mask covering the eyes and the look is nearly complete. Throw in a trench coat and the Spirit is all in the making. Then comes the soul and that which cannot easily find itself in the coat pockets. Clothes do not make people, they only begin the walk.
Acclaimed writer/artist Darwyn Cooke (DC: THE NEW FRONTIER) sets his sights on Will Eisner's classic hero The Spirit in this all-new monthly series that maintains the "spirit" of Eisner's creation while bringing a new sensibility to the character. The Spirit, a.k.a. Denny Colt, joins Commissioner Dolan and his daughter Ellen in this go-for-broke, shoot-the-lights-out crime story!
When ace television reporter Ginger Coffee is abducted by a crime lord she was about to run an expos? on, The Spirit is called in to investigate. Finding her is tough enough, but getting out alive is a whole other matter!
Don't miss the first exciting issue, filled with action, adventure, humor and sexy girls!
The Spirit #1 from DC Comics
No six fingers here with a slice of
X-23 Target X. Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost and Mike Choi guide Marvel's Wolvie clone into what she hopes will be a new life for herself.
Vertigo returns to the gas mask in the sands of Afghanistan with
Sandman Mystery Theatre: Sleep Of Reason. A dusty storm made into five parts with John Ney Rieber, Eric Nguyen and Tim Bradstreet. But no longer with Wesley Dodds, instead a new bloke by the name of Kieran Marshall resurrects the mantle.
Tony Bedard and Paul Pelletier jump in and throw around some Marvel meat with the battle trays flying about in the
Exiles Annual. It's Exiles against Exiles as the current roster face the original team. Oh, will someone think of closing the fridge door!
Sing a song of penance with Peter David and Andrew Currie as they pay it forward in a way with
Wonder Man: My Fair Supervillain. Marvel limited of five songs, once a villain, now a good guy, Wonder Man looks to help another up and out.
Four on the floor with a rollicking dirt porridge for more as Zach Howard, Sean Murphy and Reed Buccholz spin things right on absurd in
Outer Orbit from Dark Horse. Outrageous, y'hear? Sounds like slapstickish noir in a space fantasy way.

Supergirl bust - Women of the DC Universe - sculpted by John G. Mathews
Talk to people long enough and you'll get to know them some. Know those people long enough and they may inadvertently spill some secrets into your open mouth like a malteser getting stuck in your left ear.
Keep the mind fresh and stay away from them if you can. If you can't, there are a couple of ways to keep from spilling another person's juice for the world to lap.
As for the malteser, make sure your hands aren't warm. Melted chocolate in the ear was never a good idea. And don't go through the right for it.

Bizarro maquette - Superman The Animated Series - sculpted by John G. Mathews
What? Well, the cream of Australian music is what. On at Sydney Olympic Park for the ever logistically, unarithmetically awkward sales scoring system that is the
ARIA Awards. 20th annual that is, and one for the books.
Which is going to be nice background music for those otherwise nearby at Supanova on that Sunday. Of course, it's not on just that Sunday. Preaking in on the Friday night before swinging full for the Saturday and close on Sunday.
Keep in mind a few things if you head out for the con:
- Pack a lunch - Flicking through the promos, flyers and pieces of other paper in the entry show bag may be nice for a few seconds. None of that's going to be edible though. And for those who are not fans of Maccas, there's the high prices of what food box they do wheel out.
- Wear comfy shoes - Bound to be a lot of walking on the day. With Supanova being out in the far wilds of Sydney Olympic Park, stick an elephant in there as the distances are going to be far and wide. And with lines for signings and shuffling past the cosplayers, it's tread time all day long.
- Bring a towel - Oh, this one isn't about H2G2. It's about the possible stench that you invariably find wafting in such a gathering of people who are so focused on their hobby all else is sacrificed. But why washing with soap? Anyway, with a towel you could wrap your lower face and stem the odours jamming up your throat and nose.
Drop by our stall, and say "Hello, hello," like an ad that sounds like
Youth Group but isn't Youth Group.

A Nightmare On Elm Street #1; written by Chuck Dixon, art by Kevin West, covers by Tony Harris
Freddy Krueger never dies. The man only rests around waiting for new teenagers to fall asleep and into his realm of nightmares and facing off against a man with a stuffy looking sweater. Red and black wool with all that dry air? Surely that must itch.
On the heels of the new DVD Special Edition of A Nightmare on Elm Street comes a terrifying new series! From the twisted mind of Chuck Dixon (NIGHTWING, CLAW) and artist Kevin West comes a fresh look at one of the most frightening horror icons of all time: Freddy Krueger!
A new family has moved to the quiet town of Springwood and when night falls, the town quickly learn its horrible secret! Will this new family survive a new nightmare on Elm Street? Or can the tables be turned in the monstrous dream realm?
Nightmare On Elm Street #1 from Wildstorm Comics

Peter Steigerwald, Khari Evans, Vince Hernandez and Beth Sotelo jump in the waters when they make a splash in

The highs, the lows, four clicks to the right and it's
The Vault Of Michael Allred. A collection of brain matter splatter of the Madman creator from AAA Pop Comics.
Jason Aaron and Cameron Stewart take the notes from the sidelines of Vertigo as the bullets whiz overhead. Two side to a bloody coin, five parts to
The Other Side. A tale of the Viet Nam war from two foot soldiers, one a US and the other a North Vietnamese.

Sinestro bust - with yellow power ring prop - DC Direct - sculpted by Sam Greenwell
Face offs happen everywhere. Not the kind with Nicholas Cage and John Travolta swapping skin, but the kind where two or more people are in company, talking or not talking to each other.
Business, relationships, stand-offs with the delivery guy come late and with broken and dented packages, it's everywhere and anywhere. And it's the non verbal parts that open up a little on the conversation at hand.
Reading the game is all about reading the other person, and key to that is where they're holding their arms. For instance, those with their arms crossed are said to be defensive and guarded
about themselves and the situation.
Never once do they who write those guides think of the people whose arms are freakishly fused in such a fashion. They
could be opening up, but people who read body language wouldn't know.
