Nine million bicycles in Beijing. Six million people in the world, more or less. Never enough when it comes to the alien and extra-terrestrial hordes, armies and invading swarms from other planets and systems.

This galaxy isn't selfish enough for just the human race alone. When there's a trouble abrewin' from the heavens and the spacious skies, the panic sets in. But who do the people look toward to do the saving?

Arachnid predators from space threaten to knock mankind off the top of the food chain. In our darkest hour, a lone alien warrior may be our only salvation - if mankind doesn't KILL him first!

Like maggots growing out of your skull and reeking of this putrid stench, other titles debuting this week come from the loins of other ventures.

Shooting from the mini of Madrox, X-Factor hits the streets with Multiple Man heading an investigative mutant agency. Thankfully there will be no singing involved with this X-Factor.

Spilling from the continuing madness of House of M, Son Of M (of a 6 part mini series) featuring Pietro Maximoff, once known as Quicksilver before sis took that away.

Then there's Zombie Tales Death Valley from Boom Studios. Ahh, doesn't the world just love zombies loving brains?

Sensation, aviation, deviation, generation

Drink an entire bottle of Listerine followed by a Plax chaser. A surefire sharp explosion of minty freshness and possible temporary blindness from the bang.

Not quite the hottest of shots of cheap alcohol. Even for those who would otherwise find themselves filtering a bottle of methylated spirits through a loaf of bread.

Generation M and a slewing stable of other spin outs continue spreading the well oiled loins of House of M.

House of M has changed the world forever. Now, from the ashes of this cataclysmic event comes a new generation... Generation M. Find out exactly how things have changed as a group of mutants brought together by this common tragedy must fight together for a better tomorrow.

Certainly wouldn't find X-Man Chamber touching up on the spirits. Where's the need? Circus auditions notwithstanding.

Another new from Marvel not getting on the good side? There's Sins of the Fallen from Zenescope Entertainment, Chicanos from IDW Publishing, HACK/slash: The Land of Lost Toys from Devils Due and Vampirella/Witchblade: The Feast from Harris Comics.

For those who like it quick and dirty, Fell, from Image Comics, hits its third issue. No need for the previous slots, each shot in the eyeball a complete and satisfactory story all by itself.

Currently as the stands boil down with the cracking of the internet wiping cool off a multitude of servers, megabuck crossovers still hold the day in the bonnets of the big two superhero publishers. Over in the DC universe, Countdown to Infinite Crisis reigns supreme.

In Marvel, House of M runs rampant through the minds of the new mutant overloads. Leaders to our way of life. What's real, what's not, who knows what's what...

You're in the world of the House of M. Super heroes battle over your head, the flag of M waves over you -- oppressing you, and the world falls apart around you. When you need to know what’s happening, who's doing it, and where you'll need to hide, you can count on only one source -- The Pulse!

The Pulse: House Of M Special Edition is the ACTUAL newspaper from the HOUSE OF M! Your best source for late-breaking-survival! Packed to the gills with House of M secrets you can't get anywhere else. Contains exclusive art and text.

Actual newspapers published in the format and size of regular current age comic books? More novel than the new breed of litter cluttering the seats and stations of Sydney's rail network.

Looking into the distant blues of the skies, King of Spain or Christopher Lambert?

*SNIFF*

What's that smell?

Enter this, the House of Mayonnaise

Blasting out of the brains of the Blue Beetle, DC Comics added up another score in the war on threaded reading with their Countdown to Infinite Crisis. This point in the system of company-wide storylines adding on to their previously and concurrently running gamut of soldiers through all sorts of disconnected titles connected by one man, Grant Morrison and the Seven Soldiers.

Over in the realm of Marvel Comics, their big company-wide answer and retaliation on the events to out blast all previous events takes place in House of M. Starting this week, the titles of various Marvel characters will be affected as the ramifications of control let loose from the stables of the X-Men and the Avengers render the landscape to their own devils. At the centre, the family Maximoff. Master of Magnetism and looking like Spanish royalty, Magneto; Scarlet Witch and head bender, Wanda and pretty fast white guy on a track field, Pietro.

With two to one in terms of big story lines in favour of DC, odds are looking good that super heroes will have no time on their hands until the year is out.

And when that hits, who knows what evil lies around the next panel.
