Batman by Jim Lee black and white statue - sculpted by Eric Sosa - DC Direct
"It's not all black and white. There's shades of grey inbetween."
Ah, the one line (or variants of) that appears so often in cop dramas and other moral issue films. Heard it once, never want to hear it again. Sticks out? Sure does. Why wouldn't it with a box of crayons over on the side just wanting to mix it in and play on that board. Won't play in Gotham City though. That's where Batman calls the shots. And if colour is out, colour is out.
Jim Lee's version of Batman, as seen in this photo, is sculpted by Eric Sosa as part of the "Batman Black & White"
line of Batman statues from DC Direct.
Clear as yellow snow and with no colour in it, it's just like a movie about a cop with metal plate in his head and Billy Madison to blame. Or, like a black and white comic, with grey tones to mark out not so white and not so black areas.
Batman works in black and white. Crushing the hopes and hearts of criminals is all the colour he needs in his life. (And maybe a young teen bounching about alongside in brightly coloured clothes for good measure.)

Grifter statue - Moore Creations and Wildstorm Comics - sculpted by Clayburn Moore
Core Wildstorm fans will note no doubt that the
lightening strikes are happening again. Bringing it back old school with Jim Lee over the head are the likes and squads of Gen
13, The Authority and WildCATS.
It's a veritable death blow to sitting around on a rock waiting for that monkey to get back from his lunch break and clock back in shift.
Kicking up a storm of action, fanaticism and magic like Wildstorm on a Worldstorm surely unsettles something in the air. And when shifting sands of the environment are of concern, it's dust, pollen and all sorts of airborne particles floating up above the knee line.
For those who are nose and airway sensitive, that means a world of hay fever and
emptied out tissue boxes/rolls. It is spring right now, and heading into summer, can only bring up more things to find their ways into the nasal cavities.
And if
wearing a mask sounds like a good idea in keeping out the nasties, just know that
they won't stop everything from seeping in.

DC Countdown to Infinite Crisis
Too many names have sent the world of DC Comics reeling from an over abundance of shout and twist. The collection of artists working on the 80-page monster special,
Countdown to Infinite Crisis reads like a who's playing with the hot knives and forks in the DC universe frying pan.
From
the solicitation text direct: "Written by Geoff Johns, Greg Rucka and Judd Winick; Art by Rags Morales, Ed Benes, Phil Jimenez, Ivan Reis, Jesus Saiz, and various; Cover by Jim Lee and Alex Ross."
The project is set to feature all the major characters currently making names for themselves through their exploits in the DC universe. From Wonder Woman to Superman and Hawkman to Green Lantern, omissions will surely be seen as a sign of mediocrity.
On the claims that this will be "a project that will resonate for months to come" short work is made of the just exploded Grant Morrison architecture of the
Seven Soldiers mondo-series.
In light of events in Australia's Asia Pacific neighbours, the earthquake
crisis of Indonesia is looking more and more like the result of art and life running parallel.
Not only is the name,
Countdown to Infinite Crisis, a stark reminder of the sheer will of Mother Nature, but the cover of the said epicentric DC ripple shadows the ever going plight of officials and relatives looking for confirmation on the victims' identity.
