Revelations #1 (of 6); Writer: Paul Jenkins, Penciller: Humberto Ramos, Colorist: Leonardo Olea
"...And the Lord of the many will make sure s/he appears in a right sum of comics..."
Chosen by Mark Millar and Peter Gross featured the second coming of the Lord's loins in Jesus H. Christ. Or such.
Battle Pope by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore features a smokin' and wrasslin' People's Pope.
And now, from Paul Jenkins and Humberto Ramos,
Revelations. Continuing the saga and trend of the Almighty Allah appearing in comics...
Charlie Northern may be one of the best detectives in Scotland Yard but that doesn't keep him from enjoying a night off curled up with a good book of conspiracy theories and a full pack of cigarettes.
That is, until an old friend shows up at his door with the news that a high-ranking Vatican official and probable successor to the Pope has mysteriously died.
Now, Northern must travel to Rome and seek out the facts in a place legendary for keeping its secrets. There are forces at work in The Holy See that want Northern to fail--forces darker and more ancient than any in his favorite dime-store paperbacks.
Debate, discuss and sacrifice virgins at the stake. Make with the merry drinking of the wine. So long as they believe, they will create. And you shall read their stories.

Spectacular Spider-Man #19 (#282); Written by Paul Jenkins with art by Paco Medina and Juan Viasco
For over forty years, Spider-Man has seen the nerdy Peter Parker catch those thieves just like flies with the aid of his mechanical webshooters. Webshooters the webslinger created himself. For forty years this reigned in comicbook lore as steadfast and resolute. Then came
Spider-Man from the deft directorial hand of Sam "Evil Dead" Raimi with Tobey "I'm tired, I'm beat" Maguire and Kirsten "Always in the rain" Dunst in the lead roles of Parker and Mary-Jane Watson. But without the mechanical webshooters. The fanbase were up in six-arms with the decree that Spider-Man
is with mechanical aid. A smashing sequel later and the average movie-goer remains non-plussed.
Readers were thrown for a loop over J. Michael Stracynzski's pimping of Gwen Stacy's memory in
Amazing Spider-Man, online discussions rampant with a scary mindset the likes of which Chuck Austen would know. Taking the charge for cover, Paul Jenkins, over in the pages of
Spectacular Spider-Man slid
through monumental changes to the webslinger during thanks largely to furore provided by
Amazing.
Some are crying foul, citing the legacy of the nerd, while others finger their backsides toward the inevitable evolution of a character. Either way, nothing lasts forever and money speaks a lot for change.
